  • Bloodshot eyes due to excessive drug consumption
  • Foul smell coming from body as well as breath
  • Another important sign of a drug addict is that his/her appetite starts changing

What should you do when you find your loved one is a drug addict?

No matter how strong a person you are, but when you hear that your son, spouse, daughter, or father is a drug addict, you become extremely depressed in the first place, because you truly love that person and can’t see him or her struggling with this dangerous problem.

However, when you find your loved one in such a condition, you need to be even more strong if you want him/her to recover from drug addiction.

1. You Must Discuss The Problem With Your Loved One

One of the most important parts of supporting your family member in recovering from the problem is to approach him/her and discuss the problem in details. Considering the fact that it is a medical condition, you need to be really polite while talking to the person in question. In short, don’t ever be rude with your loved one when you talk about drug addiction, because he/she won’t expect that from you and hence might get hurt because of your behavior.

You must convince him/her to go for drug addiction treatment, because it’s better to cure this problem as soon as possible, otherwise it keep on aggravating, that means day by day  it keeps on affecting the health of persons in a more serious way.

2. Take Care Of Your Loved One

Apart from suggesting that your loved one should go for treatment, you should also try to take care of his or her deteriorating health condition. Make sure that he or she is having the food on time and they never skip any meal. Healthy food is really important for a healthy body, and especially when a person is a drug addict, balanced diet remains really important for him or her.

The use of TENS Units i.e. transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation can also help the affected person to monitor the pain and skin sensations suffered due to lack of addiction related chemicals in the body. This improves the overall quality of the care and monitoring of the affected person.

3. Try To Spend More Time With An Addict

If you spend more time with your loved one who is suffering from drug addiction, he or she won’t get enough time to spend alone, which can give him/her an opportunity to consume drugs. That means the more time you spend with your loved ones, the more you can prevent them from consuming drugs.

4. Convince Your Loved One To Go For Drug Rehabilitation Centre

If the addiction of your loved one has reached a very high level, try to convince him that he must take the support of a drug rehabilitation center. Your loved one can either go for outpatient treatment program or an inpatient treatment program.

Last but not the least, whether it’s you who is suffering from this problem or your loved one, you must take steps for its treatment as soon as possible
